Al Ward Guitar

The first step to finding a guitar teacher is not just finding a guitar lesson in your area, but finding a qualified music teacher that can teach you both the foundation of the music you love and its interpretation on the instrument you want to play. Whether you're a beginner learning to hold a guitar and a pick for the first time, or a seasoned performer, the key to mastery is to learn the root of what you want to accomplish and then to practice the techniques that will allow you to play what you hear in your head.

I have been playing and teaching guitar for over 20 years. As a performing artist I have played and studied music with some of the best musicians in the United States, Europe, and Canada. As a teacher, I have coached hundreds of guitar and bass students, from pure beginner to advanced, helping them to get to the next level with all of the tools at my disposal: basic to advanced music theory, music history, performance experience at venues large and small, sound engineering, pitch recognition, and the experience to tie it all together from a teachable point of view.

My House of Harmony music school has been serving the greater Nashville area since 2002. A student/teacher relationship with me begins with an evaluation of where you are musically and an understanding of what you want to accomplish. Both of these steps will be covered in your first lesson, in addition to having some fun!

By the end of your first lesson we will be in a position to discuss a personalized lesson plan that includes suggested equipment for your style and level, suggested study materials for practice reinforcement, and a lesson schedule that fits your goals and budget.

All lessons are $45 per hour or $25 per half hour and are taught in the comfort of my home studio in Hendersonville, TN. Lesson times are available Wednesday thru Saturday between 12-7 PM, but my assistance between lessons via phone and email are always available (within reason!).

Why study guitar with Al Ward?

“I took guitar lesson's from Al for two year's at his "House of Harmony" music school. It was a pleasure to be taught by a professional person such as Al. His music knowledge is vast & he has great communication skills. He's also patient, detailed, reliable, trustworthy & curtious. I not only would recommend Al as a guitar teacher but would endorse him in whatever the situation might be. I am now starting to write some of my own music & hope to perform some locally.”
